Freedom. Choice. Simplicity. Daring.

We’re an Aussie expat family (mum, dad and two sons) living in Glasgow, Scotland. We have British ancestry, Scottish spirit and Aussie pride. We moved to ScotlandLand of the Brave – on a UK Ancestry Visa in September 2016. We plan to become UK citizens and hold dual Australian-UK citizenship by the end of 2022.

As much as we love Australia, we always felt a bit nomadic. Maybe it was the size or the diversity of the country that made us want to keep moving (and move around we did). Deep down we knew it was just a matter of time before we flew the nest of our birth place and reconnected with our ancestral lands. For the first time in our lives, we actually feel like we belong. Living in Scotland, we feel calm. No two days are the same. Life is beautiful.

Aussie Expats in ScotlandWe waited 20 years to live on this side of the world. When we sold everything to move to a new country and start over again; it was like being reborn. It’s like all of our senses have been rebooted and enhanced. We created a fresh slate for ourselves with just the essentials. The richness in our lives now is the love and light we share with our family and friends, new and old. Every day we are grateful to be together as a family on our Scottish journey.

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ” – Mark Twain

For us travel is about adventure, discovery, change and personal growth. By adapting to the challenges of a new culture and by connecting with people with different perspectives, our minds have been truly opened to new and wonderful possibilities and opportunities.

We took our boys to Thailand in 2009 for their first overseas holiday so they could see how people are happy when living simply.

For us home is where our hat is. A cozy and safe retreat for when we’re not exploring new places, collecting new experiences and appreciating differences that countless others overlook.

Through Dare to Done, we share as many of these moments with our friends and family who can’t be with us as well as others who would like to walk a similar path. We are Seekers of the Way. Seeking new adventures, new achievements and expanding our minds and hearts as we journey through this beautiful life. We have many quests. Moving overseas was just one.
