Anything that can be digitized or automated, will be – and anything that cannot be digitized or automated will become extremely valuable. – Gerd Leonhard
Choosing a Job in Times of Change
What jobs will be on offer in 3, 5, 10 or 20 years from now?
Some say avoid jobs in the valley of death – those that will be obsolete sometime soon. For example, avoid jobs as a receptionist, security guard, cook for a fast food store, travel agents and bookkeeping.
Others doubt claims that 60% or more of the jobs we’ll be doing in the near future haven’t been invented yet. But think back to 3, 5 or 10 years ago. It was true then and technological advancements and embracing of technology is quickening so it’s highly likely these claims are true.

Digital transformation: are you ready for exponential change? – Futurist Gerd Leonhard
Business as usual is dead. Increasingly, science fiction is becoming science fact. Exponential technologies are rapidly changing our lives and societies, every day, everywhere. We will need different skills, and we will need to get much better at driving change – or we will be driven by it. Most importantly, we should embrace technology but not become it. Anything that can be digitized or automated, will be – and anything that cannot be digitized or automated will become extremely valuable. Lastly, we must go beyond technology to define real human values in this new digital ecosystem.
We all need to position ourselves as best we can for inevitable change. Keep a finger on the pulse of technological change and a world that is connected in every way.
