The Snowy Mountains (‘the Snowies’) are Australia’s highest mountain range. They surround Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko, which stands at 2,228 m (7,310 feet). The climate station at nearby Charlotte Pass recorded Australia’s lowest temperature of -23.0 °C on 28 June 1994. Average temperatures are between -6 and 21 degrees celsius.
